“L’avevano offerto a me, quel film. E io avevo accettato subito. Anna quarreled with Ponti, at the time of La Ciociara. “They offered me that film. And I accepted right away. But it was conditioned to have Sophia Loren as daughter. But how? Moravia describes this daughter as a little goat, one little thing made of nothing… And Loren is such a big amazon… It became a compromise, a hybrid thing, so nothing came out of it.” She refused but it was eating her heart out. Meeting Jone Tuzzi [production secretary in Rome Open City] by a hairdresser in Piazza di Spagna, being asked why she pulled back from that opportunity, she turned angrily: “And I had to be the mother of that long amazon? F*ck off, you and her.”
