Q: One of the great innovations of the movie is changing the time frame from the 1930s, when the book was set, to the Edwardian era. How did you feel about designing for that period?
A: I love the turn-of-the-century look and had on many occasions worked on things by Shaw or Oscar Wilde. I wish I had been born into that period. I loved to design for it so that was a godsend to me. My most fortunate notion was giving Mary Poppins a secret life. I showed this by making her clothes gray or black or slate but showing she had a secret life by their linings, which were always flashes of crimson or some very bright color. Julie loved that idea and really made good use of it.
it’s amazing: Julie Andrews married first this genius, and then this one. micascemalaragazza
disney classic hollywood recasting | JOAN CRAWFORD as the Evil Queen (Snow White)
oh my, this is a perfect recasting!
I’ve been wanting to do an old hollywood recast for forever now.
always said that
Once upon a time in a far away land a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired the prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind. But then, one winter’s night an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances for beauty was found within and when he dismissed her again the old woman’s ugliness melted away to revel a beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late for she had seen that their was no love in his heart and as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there.
